UX / Interaction Designer

We currently have offices in Sheffield (our HQ), Leeds & Manchester, however, a lot of us work remotely. We prefer for everyone to work however is best for them – all we ask is that people go into the office a few times a month and for team / client meetings when required.
The role:
We are on the look-out for talented UX / Interaction Designer's to join our UCD team (we are open to both Mid and Senior applicants).
Our UCD team is growing so we are looking for passionate, pragmatic and flexible people to enhance our design capabilities. We have a number of projects coming up that will need someone who is able to be an advocate for good user-centred design, can be a champion of accessible and inclusive products and services
What we are looking for:
- High level of user interface design experience, including interaction design, responsive design and accessible / inclusive design (WCAG 2.1 compliant)
- Good communicator at all levels
- A user-centred design mindset
- Willing to challenge, and be challenged
- A keen eye for detail
- A problem solver and design thinker
- A team player, who is also autonomous and reflective in their work
Your responsibilities:
- Wireframing, low and high-fidelity prototyping
- Facilitating workshops, such as journey mapping, design critiques and co-design sessions
- Working with user needs to generate journey maps and user flows
- Defining consistent and effective patterns of interface components and working with user research to test these for usability and accessibility
- Documenting design decisions
- Experience working iteratively
- Strategic thinking of how best to use design to help solve problems for clients
- Help develop our User Centred Design communities of practice
Useful but not necessary:
- An understanding of front-end development or creating code snippets for design components
- Experience working with testers to ensure a high level of quality
- A good understanding of the importance of Information Architecture and how to create a product taxonomy
- Designing for native apps, eg iPhone / Android
Tools:
- Prototyping tools, such as Figma or equivalent
- Miro for remote collaborative working and workshopping
- Jira and Confluence for planning, tracking and documenting work
Our Design Community:
You’ll be part of the design community in Nimble, which is made up of a diverse group of researchers and designers. We are neurodiversity-friendly and prioritise good mental health and professional support in order to nurture and grow the community.
Our design approach is to first understand what’s needed and demystify complex problem spaces to guide us to create actionable and effective solutions. The quality of our work is paramount, we collaborate to deliver the best outcome.
